Lucas Van Haesbroeck works with the eye. And since seeing is impossible in darkness, light is often his medium. When the light is on, the space also claims its role. His exploration translates into visual, wordless installations and performances where sound and/or music take a prominent place.
Since perception, in his view, is an active and therefore subjective process, he enjoys bouncing ideas off other people’s perspectives in his stage work (including those of Benjamin Verdonck, Myriam Van Imschoot, Post Uit Hessdalen, Zwerm, …).
He also regularly puts his vision at the service of others. As a scenographer and lighting designer, he has worked on a wide range of music and stage productions for, among others, De Warme Winkel, Bernhard Lang, Benjamin Vandewalle, Amatorski, Kristien De Proost, Dez Mona, Arsenaal/Lazarus, Hyoid Voices, Charlotte Goesaert, Hathor Consort, Thomas Bellinck, Compagnie Frieda, Sabine Molenaar, and Hiele. Since 2021, he has been teaching as a guest lecturer at RITCS.
