Is theatre, swinging music, singing or wacky poetry your jam?
Do you want to jam with a loop-station?
Also you love to dance, draw, write, film,… this workshop might be for you!
Be inspired by Daniil Kharms’ sense of humour and the exciting music by Peter Vermeersch. Mieja and Mirjam help you make your own performance at our FENIKS FESTIVAL.
You don’t need any previous musical experience, but if you happen to play an instrument, please bring it along.
“Unusual and without age. Childlike and relentless. Hard. And bad. And beautiful. The delicious anarchy in Kharms’ brazen writing is what we will put on the stage. If it doesn’t sound good – it might just bounce off the wall! Absurdism to the front, imagination without any borders. approaching words in a funny but loving way through their sounds and using that sound as the source for music and theatre.” – Mieja
Conducted by Mieja Hollevoet – costume designer and director at a.o. BRONSK and HETPALEIS, and musical coach Mirjam De Wit, you will make your own version of the WALPURGIS-show CHARMS
On our desk are around ten poems by the Russian absurdist poet Daniil Kharms and a capricious soundtrack by Peter Vermeersch. Khrams’ absurd and sometimes dark humour – his sudden and violent changes of thought – and Vermeersch dissonant and ordinary tunes defy every imagination.
Singer Judith Vindevogel and actor Benjamin Verdonck made a show with this material in 1998 with which they were nominated for the Signaalprijs.
Now it’s your turn!
