Both the shepherd boy Leukippos and the sun-god Apollo are madly in love with the chaste virgin Daphne. Leukippos, her childhood friend, is rejected at once. Apollo, dressed as a shepherd, is initially more successful. But he screws it up by kissing her a bit too enthusiastically.

In 2014 it will be their ninth year: following Cosi fan tutte, Die Fledermaus, Don Giovanni, Falstaff, Turandot, Fidelio, La Bohème and Platée, we are now taking on Richard Strauss’ Daphne.

A team of actors, singers and musicians strip the music from the text and give the content the chance to resonate in a new way, in an informal setting and in a playful manner.
The charm of the libretto reading is that as a member of the audience you witness the freedom with which the singers and actors play with the opera repertoire, and that you become an accessory to the pleasure they derive from it.
