THURSDAY 30 APRIL

Zolang we praten is er hoop - opening speech

André Klukhuhn
Opening speech about the methodical pluralism in art and science by one of the most particular scientists in the Netherlands. André Klukhuhn wrote the philosophy bestseller De geschiedenis van het denken (2003) and the recently published Alle mensen heten Janus (2008).

Cinema Novo
Michel Massot, Tuur Florizoone & Marine Horbaczewski
When Tuur Florizoone, accordeon player and composer (known from a.o. the film Aanrijding in Moscou), the tuba and trombone virtuoso Michel Massot and the cellist Marine Horbaczewski meet, a powerful alchemy arises. While improvising, the trio conjures up strange and slightly eccentric sounds, balancing between contemporary classical music and jazz. They will perform pieces from their first cd Cinema Novo.

Stom Paard-fragmenten
(Silly Horse)
Thaïs Scholiers & Johan Bossers
Every night a short flash from widely the appreciated WALPURGIS production Stom Paard (Zomer van Antwerpen 2006).

MEDIUM
Johanne Saunier
Jammed between a text she wanted to invent and movements faster that she could have dreamed, dancer Johanne Saunier gives her body in loan to images and her voice to imitate other voices. She’s trying to embody a moment in time. Her daily routine.

TRINITY songs
Benjamin Dieltjens & Judith Vindevogel
A cycle of songs for soprano, clarinet and live electronics composed by Bart Vanhecke to text fragments from a.o. the Bhagavad Ghita. It was composed for the WALPURGIS production TRINITY trip.

BDE - eerste lezing
Jeroen Brouwers, Josse De Pauw & Eric Thielemans
Midnight reading in Dutch by Josse De Pauw and Eric Thielemans of a monologue written by Jeroen Brouwers, commissioned by WALPURGIS. The title BDE refers to the phenomenon of the near-death experiences. For Brouwers it’s not a mystical and blissful sensation but rather a nightmare on the vague border between fiction and non-fiction.
