WALPURGIS offers a 2008-2009 residency to Wilfried Van den Brande under the heading of GENEROSITA. WALPURGIS provides logistic, artistic, and financial support for Wilfrieds individual trajectory as an artist. During his residency, Wilfried curates a series of surprising meetings between writers, singers, musicians and philosophers.

After a successful series of Salons in 2008-2009, Wilfried organises another series of Salons in 2009-2010 in collaboration with WALPURGIS with our colleagues at BAFF. This is a series of meetings between singers, poets, actors, musicians, and thinkers. Together with Benno Barnard, Tom van Bauwel, and Adriadne Van den Brande.

Wilfried Van den Brande (vocals) and Dirk Baert (piano) invite you to Cole Porter’s musical and literary wonderland on 10 sunday afternoons. They will explore the repertoire and life of this extraordinary American composer – an icon of the international jetset from the ‘20s to the ‘60s – chronologically. Cole Porter wrote the lyrics and music of more than 40 standards, songs that live in our collective memory. Night and day, Ev’ry time we say goodbye, I’ve got you under my skin, Anything goes,… In addition to these hits there is a lot of uncharted but extremely interesting territory. Wilfried and Dirk selected a little under 200 from the 900 titles that Porter wrote.
